What is the tour cancellation policy?
For Public Tours:
Tours require a minimum of 2 participants to run. There is no minimum for the food cart tours. In the case of too few participants, you will be notified within 24 hours of the tour. We greatly apologize for any inconvenience, and try our best to avoid canceling a tour.
For Private Tours:
We run private tours with a 6 person minimum. We require a 50% non-refundable deposit to hold a private tour date. Once tickets are purchased, all tickets and payments are non-refundable and cannot be rescheduled unless Madison Eats cancels due to severe weather.
What is included in the ticket price?
Our price reflects the fair wages we pay to the chefs, producers and tour guides, as well as the quality and quantity of food you will enjoy. While many food tours offer just a quick, small sample of food, eaten while standing, Madison Eats’ tours offer generous portions that will almost certainly be enough food for a meal (I have to say almost because someday there might be someone who is still hungry after a tour, but I haven’t seen it yet.) All tours except the Food Cart Friday tours are sit down tours where we have personal attention from the chefs, managers and owners as we are served and take time to enjoy each bite, and sip on at least one specialty beverage (beer, wine and/or cocktail). The food is primarily locally sourced, and the restaurants are fairly compensated for both their food and their staff’s valuable time. In other words, I only support businesses that I would take my in-laws to.
What kinds of foods are served on a tour?
Across the tours, all types of foods are served. We work with local restaurant partners that focus on sourcing local and seasonal ingredients. Your stop may include artisanal food products, ethnic food, pub fare, craft beverages, tacos, charcuterie, crepes, pizza, and so much more. Because the chefs source many ingredients locally, the offerings change and I cannot guarantee a certain item will be served. But I can guarantee it will be delicious! Food-tasting locations and items may change without notice.
Can you accommodate dietary restrictions?
We can accommodate vegetarians, and on most tours there are plenty of gluten-free options. I can notify the restaurants, but I cannot guarantee any other dietary restrictions or preferences will be accommodated. If we do not find out about the special needs until the day of the tour, it is usually not possible for us to appropriately adjust the food on the tour.
Who can come on a tour?
Everyone is welcome on our tours, regardless of age, gender, race, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, skin color, or hair style, as long as you are able to walk or bike the route as a comfortable pace, or have someone to push your stroller.
How many food stops are there on a tour?
B-cycle and BYOB tours include 4 stops with very large portions and one cocktail sample.
Walking food tours include 5 stops with generous portions and food cart tours include 4 stops with lighter samples. For most people, there is enough food that they don’t need to eat afterward. Because we are outside a lot on the Friday food cart tour, it is recommended that you bring water, hat, and sunscreen.
What should I bring?
B-cycle tour participants: Please bring a helmet and water bottle and dress for the weather. We provide the bikes, food and fun!
BYOB tour participants: Please bring a bike, helmet and water bottle and dress for the weather. We provide the food and fun!
All other tours, bring a sense of adventure, dress for the weather, wear comfortable shoes and bring any essentials-camera, water bottle, etc. A water bottle is strongly recommended for the Food Cart Tours.
How much food is served on the tour?

Are there any beverages served on the tour?

Does the tour leader accept gratuities?
Gratuities are always appreciated, though not mandatory, and are not included in the ticket price. We provide gratuity to the servers. Typical tipping rate for guides is about 15-20%.
